Migration from p5 to p6

It is possible to migrate the database from PHProjekt 5.x to PHProjekt 6 providing the real path to the PHProjekt 5.x config.inc.php (e.g. /var/www/html/config.inc.php or C:\www\phprojekt\config.inc.php). The config.inc.php needs to be on the same server where you are installing PHProjekt 6.

The migration could take several minutes depending on the number of projects to be migrated.

Important: User passwords will not be migrated. All migrated users will have the same username and password.

Root user will not be migrated, because it is replaced by 'admin' user on PHProjekt6.

The modules to be migrated are: Calendar, Projects, Notes, Todos, Timeproj, Timecard, Helpdesk and Filemanager.

Customized module fields will not be migrated.

If Filemanager files does not work after migration please try moving manually the uploaded files (e.g. move the files on /phprojekt5.x/uploads to /phprojekt6/uploads).

Isn't the most important contact module missing?

We will improve the migration for all the modules that have the v6 in the release date.

Contacts will be also included.

Could it be done manually then? I am thinking about starting with Version 5 at the moment and would like to use customized fields in the project-module. My question is now: Will the informations in these fields be lost in V6 or can I migrate these manually?

Something slightly OT
I would like to suggest to make a hard cut with the forum too. Do you see the possibility to install a "modern" forum-software like phpBB for discussions about the new Version? I could imagine that communication would be a lot easier.

At the moment the forum-SW lacks some nice features to build a helpful community like read/unread, bookmark threads, spam reporting, PMs...

I guess, the new Version will attract many new user with many questions, but also new developers. At the moment, finding and sharing information is hard: Many questions in the forum stay unanswered, there are spampostings and it is impossible to find out, whether the information is still valid for the current version or not.

I think it would be a great step forward in usability and community building.

The idea of p6 is that each module can be easy customizable.

So yes, you can add then some strange fields, you can read the documentation for know how the module do that.

In general, you can make function for "set" fields, and "get" fields, so, independently of the field type, you can define how is saved or obtained the value of this field.
